What is the value of a life? Your life? Mine? How do we measure such things?

People whose barriers or challenges are visible, such as those with a physical disability, may be seen as a burden on society. But really, THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT from the rest of us.

We all have obstacles in our path - whether they are related to our body, or our mind. Whether they relate to our culture or identity, our gender or age, our abilities or disabilities.

To struggle is to be human. In this sense, these people who have been attacked embody us all. To use their disability as a justification to end their lives is to say that none of us deserve to life.

Value life. Because as long as you are alive you have the opportunity to find worth, to find value or meaning in it.

And even if you do not - above all, do not deny the opportunity to others. Do not put yourself above them, no matter how you feel. No-one has that right.

I had actually thought that Japan had supported this in some way too, but this seems to be that this man that slaughtered these people was mentally unstable himself. This is still sad that it happened however. My prayers go out to those that passed, may their souls rest in the afterlife.
